Full Job Description:


Military Services Coordinator reports to the Program Director, s/he is responsible for the provision, supervision and coordination of Military Services patients in a chemical dependency residential setting.


Include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
• Supervise Military Services staff in the provision of trauma informed care to chemically dependent veteran population.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with state regulatory requirements (OASAS 819/820 regulations) and agency standards.
• Participate in outreach, and in establishing and maintaining relationships with veterans' service organizations.
• Represent the agency in attendance at seminars, conferences, meetings and planning events and initiatives with veteran’s service organization to benefit all veterans in treatment.
• Provide crisis management and promote coping skills.
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
• Support transitions through levels of treatment and recovery.
• Assist veterans in navigating recovery systems and addressing barriers.
• Collect and record psychosocial and physical data.
• Assist with care and treatment of psychiatric, drug and alcohol patients.
• Counsel clients/patients with personal, behavioral, or psychological problems.
25% travel required. Position based in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY.

• Master’s Degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling
• Independent license issued by NYS
• Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in good standing


• A minimum of two years' experience working with the veteran's population.
• Must possess and understand the military culture and how it impacts chemical dependency treatment and community reintegration; as well as available community resources for veterans.
• Minimum of two years' experience supervising staff in providing chemical dependency counseling services.
• Training in trauma-specific services such as prolonged exposure and/or moral recognition therapies. • Must have served in the military and experience working as a behavioral health specialist working with military personnel and families.
• Experience working in chemical dependency and/or other residential treatment program.
• Enjoy helping and caring for others.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work under stressful conditions.
• High attention to detail
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.


• This job operates in an indoor office environment.
   This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers.
• This job involves 25% travel to community partners. Position based in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY
